Introducing Reverend Maggie, of Sacred Moon Ceremonies!
I have studied various aspects of practical and esoteric Metaphysics full time since 2020. I am also a practicing Rosicrucian member and student. After completing my Celebratory and Spiritual Practitioner program through the SolePath Institute, I have been ordained as a Minister of the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry (CIMM). This is a Spiritual Organization dedicated to the promotion of Metaphysical New-Thought Philosophy. We accentuate the Divine Positive Aspects of Life, to enhance the manifestation of good health, abundance, love, peace and happiness. As an Ordained Minister I have also received my license from the province of British Columbia, Canada to officiant weddings. I am free to marry couples of any faith, culture or sexual orientation. I also do other blessings and ceremonies of many different kinds. My ministry is called Sacred Moon Ceremonies. I am based on Galiano Island located an hour from Vancouver, within the Southern Gulf Islands. As the crow flies in a straight line, Galiano is about 100 miles (161 kilometers) north of Seattle.

Sacred Moon Ceremonies creates and officiates spiritually inspired wedding vows and other sacred rites woven with ritual, symbolism, storytelling, and metaphysical meaning. Drawing inspiration from perhaps lunar traditions, Celtic mysticism, folklore, and the wild beauty of the West Coast and so much more – each wedding ceremony vows & rituals experience are thoughtfully crafted as a meaningful and memorable threshold experience.
For weddings, couples are warmly invited to explore the elements that resonate most deeply with them — from simple and heartfelt spiritual ceremonies or moving on to a feast of different ideas: handfastings, moon-inspired rituals, sacred storytelling, ancestral blessings, candle ceremonies, elemental rituals, calling in the ancestors, nature blessings, Celtic symbolism, and personalized metaphysical touches that reflect their unique path together. Check out the Maggie Woo Meter below of where you want to land on Wedding Woo…I can do from 1 – 10! If you’re hoping for a purely civil ceremony, I am not a match for you, and that’s perfectly okay.
Every couple is unique, and Sacred Moon Ceremonies offers personalized consultation meetings where we can dream, explore, and thoughtfully weave together the themes, symbols, spiritual elements, and ceremonial atmosphere that feel most meaningful to you – ultimately creating your wedding ceremony rituals and vows that feel deeply authentic, magical, and entirely your own. 🌙 The most important requirement is fit.
If you want to know more about Galiano Island, located in the Pacific Northwest on the Canadian side, go back to my home page and there is a Vogue Article link about the island.

Sacred Moon Ceremonies is a metaphysical ministry rooted in ancestral knowledge, blending the energies all around us, and the celebration of life in all its sacred cycles. I believe we are the living manifestation of the hopes and dreams of our ancestors. Through ritual, story telling, and ceremony, I assist in creating life memories in the personal rituals and vows for your very special day.
Life is more that what we can comprehend. It’s energy in nature, lunar phases and the stars all around us. My Ministry walks in that truth, blending metaphysical insight with ancestral wisdom to guide weddings, transitions, blessings and more – each vow and ceremony written to complement and reflect your individuality, hopes and dreams. Each wedding conducted as if you were part of my special family.
I am your storybook guide. While you focus on celebrating your love, I quietly tend to every ceremonial, and ministerial detail with great care and deep respect, so you can simply be present for one of life’s most meaningful moments. I will require a list of details from you though to be able to do all of this effectively and in a timely manner.

What do you need to get married in British Columbia, Canada?
None of what is provided here is legal advice, as you can Google this same information. I encourage you to do due diligence and research any legal question you may have.
Even the simplest wedding requires a place; a happy couple; two adult witnesses; a [British Columbia government licensed] wedding officiant AND a marriage license. Keep it simple and small or as large as you want. Just some ideas: you could rent a B&B; or a restaurant; know someone who has a property here to use; or contact one of the different governing bodies for permission or permit. Galiano Island is so beautiful because it is made up of a mix of Federal and Provincial Parks; private properties and also properties held in a nature trust.
If you are unsure about an outdoor location, places to contact for information: https://www.bcparks.ca https://www.crd.ca https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/bc/gulf/info/permis-permits
You can only apply in person for a marriage license at over 900 locations in BC. The cost is $100.00. Your marriage license is issued to you in hand on the day you successfully apply. You then carefully safeguard this important document into the hands of your wedding officiant to review, keep safe and complete on your wedding day immediately after the ceremony. Your wedding officiant signs the document and [within 48 hours] mails it to the BC government office of Vital Statistics. To locate the closest marriage license site you can use this helpful marriage license office tracker: https://connect.health.gov.bc.ca/marriage-offices At least one member of the happy couple needs to be present with two sets of government issued identification for both people. You will also need personal information for both members of the couple such as: the full legal names for the couple, birth dates, places of birth, and current physical addresses; current legal status (e.g., never married, divorced, or widowed); and the full names and places of birth (town/city, and province/state/country) for both sets of parents. The marriage license is valid for only 90 days from the date of issue. [This means it needs to be valid on the date of your wedding.] If either of you have been divorced you need to also provide your divorce certificate or order. There is no wait period between the date of issue of your marriage license and your wedding. Your final government marriage certificate will eventually be mailed by the government to the address you provide at the time of applying for your marriage license, usually around three weeks after your licensed officiant submits your completed marriage documents to the government. Your marriage license and all marriage documents are issued in your legal name(s).
Can I get married in British Columbia if I am from the United States?
First you should obtain legal advice in your home state, however generally speaking ‘Yes.’ You do not need to be a Canadian citizen or resident to legally marry in British Columbia. The process requires no blood tests, and your Canadian marriage will be fully recognized in Canada. You will require a marriage license [see above]. In the weeks following your wedding when you receive your Canadian government issued wedding certificate you will then go through your individual state process to submit it. Same-sex weddings are legal nationwide in the United States, and are recognized at both the state and federal levels since 2015.

A reminder: One of the things I like to establish at our first meeting is whether we’re a good fit. Every officiant has a different style, and I want you to have the ceremony that feels right for you. Sacred Moon Ceremonies offers personalized spiritual [ie not religious] wedding ceremonies. Even at Woo Level 1, there are meaningful reflections, the exchange of vows, and the legal and ministerial elements required for a legal marriage. If you’re hoping for a purely civil ceremony, I am not a match for you, and that’s perfectly okay.
My ceremonial attire reflects the creative spirit of Sacred Moon Ceremonies and blends traditional ministerial elements with vintage and artistic steampunk styling. If your wedding has a particular dress code or aesthetic, I’m always happy to discuss how my attire can complement your celebration.

One of the biggest challenges for theme wedding celebrants, especially those with a spiritual or metaphysical background, is that couples often have no idea how to articulate what they want. They may know they don’t want a traditional church wedding, and they don’t want a city hall wedding…but they also may not want a full moon circle with ancestor invocations and elemental blessings. The Maggie “Woo Meter” instantly gives people permission to choose their comfort level without feeling judged.

The first meeting for all of us is really a vibe check. It is a complementary session easily arranged by me at a convenient day/time on GoogleMeet for you both to attend virtually or on island if you are here. If you decide to proceed with me as your wedding officiant during or after this session [and I am available for your wedding date], a 50% non refundable retainer of your quoted fee is then required to reserve your wedding date. *NB Please take note: you do not have a reserved wedding date with me, without a non-refundable retainer paid within one week of your first meeting.
There will be two further brief sessions made available for both of you where with my professional input, the details of your wedding ceremony are created based on your dreams and also includes my attendance at a rehearsal. If there are any unusal travel requirements required for me to get to your venue location, those are organized and provided by you. The remainder of your ceremony fee is due before the day of the wedding.
All of the above sessions are hopefully completed at least two weeks prior to your wedding date in order for me to be fully prepared. You pay your fees by etransfer in the currency of your country of origin, ie Canadian or American currency.
